Laerorndes Dilledrin (Lea for short) is a half-dryad, the product of a dryad mother, and a druid, high elven father. Her father Aldair began her on the path of the druid at a young age. He taught her to harness her magic for the benefit of the tribe and the protection of the forest. Unfortunately, Aldair being a high ranking member of the Circle of the land Druids, was often called away on important business and not around for many months at a time while she was growing up. Her mother raised her amongst her tribe of dryads in the cloud forest where she learned the ways of the dryads and became closely connected with the forest and the creatures that lived there. During one of her forest explorations with her mother, Lea found a red panda, stuck in a hunters trap. She was distraught at the poor creatures pain and quickly freed it from the trap. Her mother helped her to heal the young animal, and the panda was so grateful to its rescuer that it followed the two home. Lea named the red panda Arvellon, and the two have been almost inseparable ever since.
As a half-dryad Lea always appeared more elf than tree, with the pointed ears, slender face and fair skin of her father’s heritage. The biggest tells of her dryadic half being her hair and eyes. Her eyes matched the striking Amber glow of her mother’s and her hair changing from greens and golds in the summer, to shades of red, orange, and brown in the fall and winter, sometimes even growing small flowers in the spring. Because of her more elf/like appearance (especially when compared to the others in her clan) as Lea got older she was tasked with going into the elven city of Taebaek to purchase what could not be provided by the forest. Lea was proud of her appointed duty even if the city was unnatural feeling and strange. Life was happy and all was peaceful until Lea was 21.
One day on her way back from a trip to the city, she found the forest burned and her tribe massacred. Her mother was amongst the dead. Lea was the last remaining member of her tribe, and set about the task of returning the dead to the earth. Her father arrived a few days later to find his daughter still attempting to bury the lost. Lea explained what had happened and her father became racked with guilt, thinking if he had been there he could have protected his wife.
Lea decided that staying in these charred ruins would not help relieve her sorrow, so she told her father it was time for her to explore the world and find a new place in it. Her father did not want to loose his daughter so soon after loosing his wife and was against the idea at first, but Lea was eventually able to convince him to let her travel, promising to send letters and keep in contact wherever she went.
